To The Dungeon With You!

After a crushing defeat at the hands of Empress Velo, Tawna is thrown into one of Hyper Spaceway's many prison cells. Velo looks like she means business, and who knows if she'll ever let Tawna out once that electrified gate closes! As Tawna looks around, disorientated and angry, she spots a rusted old robot sharing the cell with her. The robot... he's not cuffed! He could help her escape! Though, unbeknownst to her, Otto has not moved from his spot in YEARS... He's not even sure he could do it if he wanted to. Only time will tell what's in store for Tawna...

This painting has been in my drafts since September, and I finally got the time to finish it! I didn't count the hours it took me to sketch, but the rest of the drawing process took 8 hours and 44 minutes. Also, since this was from way back in September, I actually started it on my old computer and had to fight to get the sketches back because none of my CSP files carried over during the transfer. Essentially, I had to frankenstein it back together using WIP screenshots I'd sent to my friends... which also meant most of what I had left was low-resolution and came with opaque backgrounds. What a hassle this drawing process has been! That said, I'm really happy with how the final product looks! This must be my most detailed full color piece to date! I really challenged myself with this one, and exceeded my expectations-- I hadn't planned on making the background so ornate, and this may be my first time attempting a rust effect.

Tawna and Hyper Spaceway are taken directly from Crash Bandicoot, which is owned by Activision.
Otto and Empress Velo are personal interps of mine, but they are intended to be alternate versions of Geary and Emperor Velo XXVII, respectively, which are also property of Activision.

"Maybe if you learn to behave I'll let you out some time in the next DECADE!!"

alternate version without character shading. Now it's much clearer how beat up Otto is in comparison to his main-dimension counterpart.
