This month, I've been trying to draw once a day. Obviously I haven't posted all my work on here because most of it has been doodles or MS Paint sketches, and I don't think that's particularly reflective of my own ability/skill. However, I like what I've drawn today, Particularly the pose I drew for the full-body drawing of Lavender.
I think I'll talk a bit about Lavender's design development, since it's put on display through these pictures. What you see in the old piece is not her initial design, but rather an attempted replication of it from memory (since I might've lost the original reference image of her a while ago). As such, she is missing her horns in all drawings, and missing her tail in the lower right corner. Other than that, her design is pretty much on par with what I envisioned for her at the time. She was meant to be heroic, mouselike, magical, and taller than Adolpha (who I also completely botched by drawing her from memory LOL). Redesigning her in 2021, I realized, first of all, that I'd forgotten the horns present in her initial design. However, adding them in their original form, I realized Lavender's horns looked a lot like Lola Martin's horns, not helped by their similar ear shape and facial features. The characters are completely unrelated, so I took it upon myself to distance them from each other as best as I could. So, I made Lavender's ears larger, and made her face sharper. I also made her tail sharper and changed the fur on it to be more angular in shape, to give her a better silhouette. This is also why I changed her chest fur to have a lightning bolt-esque shape to it (plus, it conveys a sense of energy in the character). I placed a third horn on her nose because, recalling back to her first design, I remember I drew her with a pointy nose by mistake. The nose horn served as a callback to that, and also a unique feature. I gave her large fangs which were meant to slightly resemble a mouse's incisors, but drawn beastly enough so she'd appear more like a monster. Her horns are actually a bit larger in this image than in my last drawing featuring Lavender, because I wanted them to stand out even more. I think I'll be sticking with the longer horns, they suit her quite well.
