Food Gems (and concept sketches)
A good friend of mine (who you can find at: https://theguycryinginthecornerthere.tumblr.com/ ) has a series of OCs who are all gems with food-based names and abilities. His main OC is a Potato Agate, and a good while ago he hosted this sort of contest where a bunch of others in our friend group designed our own Potato Agates, which were based off other types of potatoes. I chose fingerlings, which are tiny and multicolored. Fingerling's wide-eyed toothy expression is inspired by the work of Takashi Murakami, as well as the appearance of Chain Chomps from the Mario series and Caiman from Star Fox 64 & Zero. Fingerling's weapons are modified brass knuckles.
Special Dark was not made for a contest, but rather made as an in-joke between me and Dude, because I kept misremembering him having a character named 'Hershey Pearl' (he never did). So I made one, based off my favorite type of Hershey bar. Her dress is colored to resemble the chocolate bar's packaging. She wasn't explicitly based off any other characters from media, but I do now realize her hair looks a lot like Coco Bandicoot's. Unlike Fingerling, I figured out S.D.'s outfit and design rather quickly!
Steven Universe belongs to Rebecca Sugar and Cartoon Network.
It is suspected Fingerling isn't really a Potato Agate as she claims to be, but rather a misguided Polyhedroid Agate instead. She has heard this a million times and does not care.
S.D. Pearl is a Baroque Pearl, hence her strange gem shape (and her inclination for extra fany dresses, haha). She is named after a type of Hershey bar.
